College for Kids: Educating our Future Students
For many kids, summer time means no classes and too much free time around the house. That combination can make for a parent’s worst nightmare. Instead of giving your son or daughter a few months this summer to sit around, give them a jump-start on their education with St. Louis Community College’s College for Kids program. With ten different subject offerings and countless classes, your child just might discover their future career.
Chess: Introduction & Beyond (CFKD: 727 601) Think your child has the logic to be the next Bobby Fischer? The basics of chess as well as fundamental checkmating principles will be taught in this class. No prior chess experience is necessary. Call 314-984-7777 for more information.
Video Game Creating with Scratch, Grades 4-8 (CFKD: 714 602) Instead of spending a summer playing video games, your child can spend their time creating them. Students will learn how to create video games, interactive stories, animations, music and art with Scratch. Scratch is a programming language created at MIT, making digital creations easier and shareable through the web.
Calling All Gleeks, Grades 6-8 (CFKD: 747 602) Bring out your inner diva and create your own musical review. Audition skills, cold readings and relaxation techniques will also be covered. This is your time to shine!
