I was a office worker all my life. When I was 34, I took a chemistry class at Florissant Valley, for the fun of it. I really enjoyed it and asked the instructor what kind of jobs were there for someone who liked chemistry and math. She told me about the Chemical Technology Program.
I was so interested in it that I started the program, while I worked full time. My employer let me work around my classes. Then I became pregnant. So I attended the Chem Tech Program, worked full time and was pregnant. That wasn't an easy thing to do. But I was determined because for taking just 2 years of classes, I could get a good paying job that I enjoyed.
I graduated in 1992 and worked at Petrolite for 6 years until they moved to Texas. Now I work at Florissant Valley in the Chemistry Department and love it.
The Chemical Technology Program has changed my life. It has helped me to see that I can do anything. Thank you Flo Valley.
